There are 3 special classes in St. Brendan’s College, housed in The Brendan Centre Building to the right of the car park area in reception.
There are 2 ASD classes (Autism classes) and 1 MD class (Multi Disability class).
There are 6 places in each class. These places are currently full.
The special classes endeavour to provide support for boys to access mainstream classes by preparing them for lesson content, reinforcing what is done in the mainstream, assisting them to keep up to date with assignments and exam demands whilst also providing a safe space where they can return to organise themselves and regulate when necessary.
Every effort is made to teach life skills to the boys in the special classes so that they might access mainstream classes with dignity and receive preparation for life in the wider community.
The Brendan Centre offers a range of alternative lessons and opportunities such as Art Therapy, Animal Care, Care of JJ (our canine companion), Coding, Animation, Gardening, Cooking, Music, Singing, Personal Training (strength and conditioning), Personal Care, Shopping, Numeracy and various school outings.
